- I posted a problem a couple of days ago that my just-reinstalled
- MS-Windows 3.1 required a disk in drive A. I got a number of
- replies, summarised below:
-
- bumby@dimacs.rutgers.edu suggested my PATH might include the "A:"
- drive or one of its subdirectories, in which case you get a
- dialog box with a "can't find message". This was not the case
- here, I got a character error message before windows got properly
- loaded.
-
- glratt@rice.edu (Glenn Forbes Larratt) wrote me that he had this
- problem and got around it by starting windows without the logo
- ("win :"). I tried that, still had the problem.
-
- mpolen@mips.com (Michael Polen) suggested the FileManager had the A
- open when last closed, and now waited to read it again. While I agree
- this is very annoying, it doesn't explain my problem: my problem ocurs
- way before the FileManager starts (in fact, the FileManagers is not in my
- startup group! In fact, nothing is...).
-
- skok@itwds1.energietechnik.uni-stuttgart.de (Holger Skok) suggested I
- check my *.ini files, setup, and startup group for things that auto-load.
- I couldn't find anything suspicious there...
-
- So I still have the problem... anybody got any other ideas?
