- I run Word for Windows 2.0, Excel 4.0, Powerpoint 3.0, and
- CIM (Compuserve Information Manager -- a Dos app) on Windows NT.
- [Yes, the PDC build.] These things do have occasional problems
- (mostly Word). In 5 hrs of work with these tools I probably get
- 1 Gp fault from Word that doesn't impact the rest of the system.
- [I stopped using Brief for OS/2, I am now using Slick for Windows
- NT. I also run the development tools. The only reason I drop
- into Windows 3.1 these days is to run my Gif viewers which require
- 256 colors :).]
-
- However, it *is* listed as alpha software and your mileage may
- vary.
-
- The 'MS-DOS' prompt is not really a MS-DOS prompt at all. It is the
- Windows NT command prompt and it will run apps from any of
- the subsystems. -- Windows 32, Windows 3.1, MS-Dos, Char mode
- OS/2, and [comming to a machine near you] Posix.
-
- My machine is a 486/33 ISA Gateway with 16mb of memory. I run
- the FAT file system on a SCSI hard drive.

- | How are we supposed to run the development tools without opening a window?
- | This thing that says "MS-DOS prompt" actually runs 'cmd.exe'. I'm still
- | not sure if this is a true DOS window or just capable of executing DOS
- | apps, but I know I have to open it to use the debuggers and compiler.
- | When you say its stable if you do not run the windows subsystem, I sure
- | hope you mean the Win 3.1 subsystem!
