  12. We've been having a heck of a time getting the TCP/IP software configured.
  13. Here are the specifics:

  15.     Western Digital 8003EP network card, soft configure as:

  17.     IRQ           5
  18.     I/O Base Adx     240
  19.     RAM Base Adx    0xe000
  20.  
  21. This setup works under DOS, no problems.  However, in NT, using the Network
  22. Control Panel Applet to install the card and driver and the TCP/IP software
  23. doesn't seem to be working.  There are no error messages, it seems to install
  24. OK, says that NT must be rebooted for the changes to take effect.

  26. After a reboot, in the "MSDOS" window, we've tried running the "net start
  27. tcpipsvc" comamnd.  Error msgs:

  29.     The dependancy service failed to start.
  30.  
  31. Next we tried to runt ftp.exe, and the error msg gives more info:

  33.     ERROR:  cannot open services database file C:\winnt\system\drivers\etc -
  34.     \services
  35.     ftp: ftp/tcp: unknown service.
  36.  
  37. Upon investigation the \etc directory doesn't even exist.  Shouldn't this have 
  38. been made when the TCP software was installed.  What if the first time I 
  39. installed it it was wrong?  It won't let me remove it, and I don't know what
  40. suite of programs it comprises to do it manually and start over.

  43. Getting our net up and running is very important.  Any help would be appreciated.
