- We've been having a heck of a time getting the TCP/IP software configured.
- Here are the specifics:
-
- Western Digital 8003EP network card, soft configure as:
-
- IRQ 5
- I/O Base Adx 240
- RAM Base Adx 0xe000
-
- This setup works under DOS, no problems. However, in NT, using the Network
- Control Panel Applet to install the card and driver and the TCP/IP software
- doesn't seem to be working. There are no error messages, it seems to install
- OK, says that NT must be rebooted for the changes to take effect.
-
- After a reboot, in the "MSDOS" window, we've tried running the "net start
- tcpipsvc" comamnd. Error msgs:
-
- The dependancy service failed to start.
-
- Next we tried to runt ftp.exe, and the error msg gives more info:
-
- ERROR: cannot open services database file C:\winnt\system\drivers\etc -
- \services
- ftp: ftp/tcp: unknown service.
-
- Upon investigation the \etc directory doesn't even exist. Shouldn't this have
- been made when the TCP software was installed. What if the first time I
- installed it it was wrong? It won't let me remove it, and I don't know what
- suite of programs it comprises to do it manually and start over.
-
-
- Getting our net up and running is very important. Any help would be appreciated.
-
- Please post or email (email is preferred, it's quicker)
-
- THANX!!
