-
- It just so happens that I have been looking into TeamNet and ClearCase.
-
- The Product is called TeamNet, the company's name is "TeamOne Systems".
-
- The correct address is;
-
- 710 Lakeway Drive,
- Suit 100
- Sunnyvale, CA 94086
-
- Tel: 408-730-3500
-
- TeamNet as been around for over five years now, and is being used
- extensively by many large corporations. From what I understand about
- ClearCase, they have only been around for about 18 months and
- are they have only just finished beta testing on the Sun and HP platforms.
-
- As to the use of filesystems, TeamNet seems to have a more transparent
- and easier to use filesystem than ClearCase. ClearCase requires greater
- effort to setup and use. The method of setting up source baselines
- and workareas for TeamNet was just far easier and required less thought
- than ClearCase. This doesn't mean that TeamNet lacks functionality.
- TeamNet seemed to be a more "natural" way of working, and more
- intuitive.
-
- Lastly, TeamNet's architecture seems to be more mature and better
- tought out, there seems to be alot of growing room designed into
- the product. The underlying system is built on top of an OODB, which
- a future product called the "Process Automation Kit" will capitalize on.
- ClearCase to me seemed like a DSEE clone, that just wont scale in large
- environments and wont grow with a company. The underlying architure
- would probably need to change drastically for tha product to grow and
- change over the years, especially there DB, which is based on a
- relational database that just does not seem suited to handle the type
- of meta-data required for a CM system.
-
- (Whoops, I didn't mean this to sound like a comparison, I got slightly
- carried away).
