- I use the Chinon ds3000 for color scanning. It has the advantage of scanning
- 3d object upto 3/4" high. It can scan in gray scale only. However, a color
- filter is avaiable to do 3 color scan at 8 bit per color(256 levels). The
- scanner includes a program to merge the three scans. This also cost less than
- flatbed scanners ~~ $800.00

- The last scsi controller I bought was less than $100.00 from Jameco. Drives
- are not the only thing to consider with a scsi controller. There are other
- devices such a tapes, printers, scanner, plotters, and other device to hook to
- the controller. With a scsi II controller, the data transfer rate can be a
- high as 10 megbyte per second. Also most removable media SyQuest, IOMEGA, etc
- are scsi based.
