- The gif format exists in two slightly different flavours, gif87 and gif89.
- Older programmes are unable to read gif89, and I think this is true for WinGif.

- Try Paintshop Pro, it allows to read gif89 and has an option to Save-as gif87.
- In any case, if you want to send gifs to someone else of whom you're not sure
- what gif viewer version he/she uses, send gif87 to be on the safe side.
