- I think Smartdrv 4.0 has a general problem with SCSI controllers. After
- I installed it my 486-50 Mhz (the same with my 33 Mhz machine) was
- incredibly slow in accessing all drives (HD and floppy). Nothing changed,
- when I disabled write caching and floppy caching. One machine needed
- double buffering (33 Mhz) the other (50 MHz) not. At least smartdrv told
- me when I called smartdrv /s after it was installed properly.
-
- I went back to smartdrv 3.x that came with my MSDOS 5.0 and tossed the
- version that came with Windows 3.1 out. Everything works fine for me now.
- Perhaps you should give it a try.
