  26. Problem is that even with the WP help turned on using the same
  27. keystrokes in wordperfect causes a slow tutorial to come up, rather
  28. than a quick doing of whatever it was you needed to do. A good 
  29. case in point was indenting a paragraph. In Wordperfect you simply
  30. hit F4. In Word F4 starts this long process whereby a menu item, 
  31. then a dialog box pops out, some numbers change, and 5-6 seconds 
  32. later the paragraph indents. Then supposing you want to put a bul-
  33. let in. In WP you point to before the indent code, then add the 
  34. bullet character. Doing that in Word causes the bullet character
  35. to be indented as well.

  37. In fact, bullets and indenting in Word are very good and easy to 
  38. use.. The proper way to do indented paragraphs is to use the ruler,
  39. not the dialog box. The proper way to do bullets is to use the bullet 
  40. tool. The problem isn't that they are better or worse, it is that 
  41. they are very different. The consideration is basically one of re-
  42. training. Retraining costs _can_ be significant and can outweigh 
  43. the advantages of a better word processor of you have a huge instal-
  44. led base of users and documents.
