  10. As you might know I have a large collection of batch files and
  11. tricks garbo.uwasa.fi:/pc/ts/tsbat36.zip. I am always looking for
  12. useful new information for it.

  14. I have a puzzle for you gentle fellow programmers who are interested
  15. in batch programming. The task is the following.  With the standard
  16. batch commands write a batch that returns the extension of the
  17. (file) name given to the batch as the parameter (%1). No external
  18. commands or programs are allowed to perform the task.
  19.  
  20. Please note that this is not because I would need the solution. I
  21. already have devised one working solution myself (it has 14 lines
  22. the actuial testing part taking 7 up). I'll be including it to the
  23. next version of TSBAT. But I thought we could for a change try a
  24. programming contest just for everyone's enjoyment. And who knows
  25. what useful batch programming ideas might pop up in the process.
