  19. I've tried this with the both the 0.96cpl2 kernel and the 0.97pl1 
  20. kernel. Same result, also with different versions of uncompress.

  22. To be more specific: I was using GNU-tar with the z option, so 
  23. compress was called in a pipe. I didn't try out uncompress alone. 
  24. (Well, I did, but then my file system was already totally 
  25. corrupted, I wouldn't have noticed any further corruption ... ;-)
