- I'm new to LINUX, in fact so new that I never saw it running on my own
- IBM/PS2...
-
- The problem is that my system does not boot from the LUNIX boot
- floppy. Perhaps there is somebody out there that can shed some light
- on this.
-
- My configuration is as follows:
- An IBM/PS2 model 80 with:
- 2 IDE harddisks (110 and 70 MByte)
- 1 3.5" floppy
- 1 serial Microsoft mouse connected to mouse port
- 1 serial port card (MCA, 2 extra ports)
- 1 memory card with 6 MByte of memory
- 1 VGA monitor
- I use the LINUX 0.97 boot floppy(boot floppy + floppy with root
- filesystem, although the system has not asked me yet to insert that
- one).
- The two floppies have been tested on a standard IBM/PS2 model 70 with
- one harddisk.
- What I get on the screen is as follows (my actions prefixed with
- >>>):
-
- Loading......
- Press <RETURN> to see SVGA modes available or any key to continue
-
- >>> Pressing the space bar results in EGAc in the upper right corner
- >>> And the following output:
-
- serial port at 0x3f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A
- serial port at 0x2f8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A
- 8 virtual consoles
- 4 pty's
-
- >>> Than nothing happens....
- >>> If I press the <RETURN> key (or any other key) a few times,
- >>> I get the following:
-
- lp_init: lp0 exists(0)
- No bus mouse
- Linux 0.97-19 Aug 1992
- Floppy drive(s): fd0 is 1.44M
- floppy: unexpected interrupt
- sockinit: initializing family (AF_UNIX)
-
- >>> And that's it; nothing happens after that.
- It looks like the system is waiting for something; I'd like to know
- for what.
- Anybody any ideas?
-
- Thanks for your help,
