  15. Two solutions: 1) You replace DOS' braindead format program with
  16. something better (no, I don't know of anything, unless you count Linux'
  17. fdformat + mtools), or 2) use the /u (I think) switch to force a format.

  19. I could say something even nastier about format programs that won't
  20. format a floppy, but since the DOS format program can be made to do it,
  21. I won't.  (That wasn't the case with a certain other format program in a
  22. somewhat wellknown utility package; that one just plainly refused to
  23. believe that yes, I really did want to format a a _partly_ formatted
  24. disk.  I hate programs that try to be too smart and fail.)
