  14. even cylinders, and not wanting to repartition my hard drives and reinstall
  15. everything, I patiently waited for Lilo to reach alpha 3 before I decided it
  16. was safe enough to use.  I compiled it today and installed it with:
  17. lilo -b /dev/hda -i /etc/lilo/boot.b /etc/lilo/chain.b+/dev/hda1@/dev/hda
  18. /etc/Image
  19. That way it'll default to dos for now anyway, and I can boot into linux
  20. whenever.  The problem is that it isn't working.  If I leave it alone, it says
  21. "loading chain.b" then I get the dos non-system disk error.  If I hit control,
  22. I do get the lilo boot prompt and it'll load linux fine.  This seems to be
  23. really close to working, so I figured that someone will know something simple
  24. to make dos boot.  I am running dos 5.0, linux .97-pl1, and lilo-alpha3. 
  25. Other than that, lilo seems to be a great program- much more transparent than
  26. shoelace.
