  12. kermit (which i using now) works fine when i start it in an xterm. however,
  13. if i'm not in X, after the 4 connecting to ... & escape char lines info,
  14. it escapes back to the local machine (connect is last line of my .kermrc)
  15. there's the C-Kermit> prompt and then i'm back at the regular bash prompt.
  16.   in both cases, i'm logged in as root. in fact, TERM is even set to xterm
  17. in both cases (but vt100 or console terms work the same). 
  18.   way back in ver. 0.12 i had kermit working but until i tried it today
  19. from inside X-windows, kermit has always dropped out as i describe above.
  20.  Why does it work in X? (not that i'm complaining, just curious)
  21.    i'm using: kernel 0.97 patch level 1 with base utilities, etc from the
  22. MCC-interim dist.
