  12.     Hello everyone.

  14.     I recently downloaded the TeX stuff from 129.78.66.1 (the Australia
  15. site) and followed the instructions in the README.222 file, and got it
  16. installed.

  18.     I thought that I was about to fly. But when I ran "latex foo" or
  19. "tex foo", I got the following greetings:

  23. I can't find the default format file!

  26. The first line is fine, but the second line ruined my whole day.

  28.     I looked around the directories and found that all the format files
  29. "xxx.fmt" were there under the "/usr/local/lib/tex/formats" directory.
  30.  
  31.     So, what did I do wrong? How come TeX didn't like me. :-(

  33.     Could someone please help me out here?
