  13. Hello Linuxers,

  15. I have a question regarding fdformat. For some reasons, I can not format
  16. 5.25 HD diskettes on my drive. 3.5 diskettes are formatted just fine. 
  17. Any of you is experiencing this problem ?

  19. I am using Linux version 0.97pl1 and root file system from the 
  20. MCC-interim version.

  22. I use

  24. fdformat /dev/fd1h1200    
  25.  
  26. for 5.25 HD diskettes on my drive, and get a bunch of errors during
  27. the verification phase. (A lot of noise from the drive and
  28. 'sector not found' messages.) For 3.5 diskettes, there is no problem.
  29. And I am able to access (read,write) 5.25 diskettes formatted by MS-LOSS.

  31. Do I need to set the parameters before fomatting ? If so, where can
  32. I get the setfdparm program and what are the values of
  33. necessary parameters? Thanks in advance for any information.
