  13. Ok, I have a 386SX(16) with 2Meg of ram... about 1.2 Meg free after bootup.

  15. I think i just did something rather foolish, and am wondering how long
  16. it will take to finish.  I have a 1.4 Meg tarfile, which I decided to
  17. compress.  Thing is, the tar file is larger than my memory, and it is
  18. taking a long time to finish.

  20. How long can I expect this to take?  I do not want to turn it off, and
  21. cannot get a prompt to respond to reboot (or any command for that matter).
  22. I want no damage to my filesystem, so will I have to wait until it finishes?

  26. BTW, when switching between VC's and pressing different status buttons,
  27. I managed to cause the keyboard status LEDs to count in binary, as I pressed
  28. ALT-F<x>.  neato.  too bad I cant use any of those VC's (locked up by above
  29. process)
