- Ok, I have a 386SX(16) with 2Meg of ram... about 1.2 Meg free after bootup.
-
- I think i just did something rather foolish, and am wondering how long
- it will take to finish. I have a 1.4 Meg tarfile, which I decided to
- compress. Thing is, the tar file is larger than my memory, and it is
- taking a long time to finish.
-
- How long can I expect this to take? I do not want to turn it off, and
- cannot get a prompt to respond to reboot (or any command for that matter).
- I want no damage to my filesystem, so will I have to wait until it finishes?
-
- when will that be?
-
- BTW, when switching between VC's and pressing different status buttons,
- I managed to cause the keyboard status LEDs to count in binary, as I pressed
- ALT-F<x>. neato. too bad I cant use any of those VC's (locked up by above
- process)
-
-
- THanks.
