- After compiling the kernel several times, I hate to ask possible FAQ's, but
- I have hit my time cutoff point ;^)
-
- First and foremost, I can't seem to get the 0.97 patch 1 to take - I have a
- full source tree, with all necessary links in place (I *can* compile and
- get a new image, as well as other building other software), but when
- running the patch as stdin to /usr/bin/patch I get a message that the
- patch is of an unknown format, but *might* (might?) be a new form of
- context sensitive diff file (oh really?). The first patch in the file
- takes, but the second fails and patch goes down in a cloud of smoke and
- bright orange flames.
-
- Ok. Probably a simple answer that I missed, but I edited my .newsrc and
- searched for all bits on applying that patch, and no one seemed to have
- any trouble.
-
- Second problem. Lilo version 3, after following all relevant instructions
- in news (thanks Werner) and readme's still won't compile. I do have 0.97
- source, but /usr/src/linux/include/genhd.h does not exist -- I have hdreg.h
- (which is what I was instructed to change...hmm.) -- the errors are
- basically:
-
- geometry.c: In function `geo_query_dev':
- geometry.c:89: structure has no member named `start'
- geometry.c: In function `geo_comp_addr':
- geometry.c:156: `BMAP_IOCTL' undeclared (first use this function)
-
- and it dies. I'd look into the code myself, but no one seemed to have a
- problem with lilo either. I just want to save myself the aggravation of
- finding I missed a link, or some such dumb thing.
-
- Well, thanks for your help (or thuds if this is obvious!)
