  15.    two weeks ago I posted to this newsgroup, that I had problems with my
  16.    new 386 motherboard (AMD386, 40MHz, ETEQ Cougar chipset, 64KB cache,
  17.    8MB memory). 
  18.    Running Linux on it, from time to time some processes or even
  19.    the kernel died with a signal SIGSEGV, which was caused by a `general
  20.    protection error'. After turning off the onboard external cache
  21.    everything worked fine.

  25.    - Are there differences between AMD 386 and Intel 386? Has the AMD
  26.      probably some bugs?

  29. Well, have a AMD 386 40 MHz motherboard, ETEQ chipset, 128k cache, 16 MB
  30. memory --- and I haven't had any problems at all.  Perhaps your board
  31. was just defective; did you try asking your dealer to swap your
  32. motherboard for another one with the same configuration?
