  30. The NorthEast Regional Conference Committee has started work on a
  31. Regional Conference with a ``twist''.  We want to produce a conference 
  32. focused specifically on the Banking, Finance, and Insurance industries    
  33. and their relevant applications. This determination was largely geographical, 
  34. drawing from the large presence of these industries in Boston, New York, 
  35. and Hartford. Current planning is targeting the conference for Fall of 1993 
  36. in the Hartford, CT area.

  38. Our goal is effectively to hold TWO CONCURRENT, CO-LOCATED CONFERENCES 
  39. with enough distinct identity to be attractive to two audiences.
  40.  
  41. 1. System Managers, Analysts, Programmers, DP Staff
  42.  
  43. 2. Technical Managers/Directors who sign the purchase orders for the 
  44.    systems, software, and services required to meet their business objectives.
  45.  
  46. These 2 audiences represent the "Technical" stream and the "Managerial" stream.
  47.  
  48. The Program Committee is looking for input regarding what specific program 
  49. topics would be appropriate for the "Technical" stream or the "Managerial" 
  50. stream. Our initial meetings identified five topic areas below that may
  51. help define the focus. We do not want to limit your responses to these areas!
  52.  
  53.         Transaction Processing
  54.         Database Management Systems
  55.         EDI (Electronic Data Interchange)
  56.         Office Automation
  57.         Imaging
  58.  
  59. These are the first-round topic areas. Help us to focus on YOUR needs and
  60. address issues YOU are interested in. What is MISSING? What should
  61. we expand on? Specifics are fine - we want to know what YOU need to
  62. do your job in these industries successfully! It may be useful if 
  63. you describe your CURRENT systems and applications to help us get a feel
  64. for commonality between companies, as well as targeting specifics.
  65. The more we know about your needs the better program we can prepare for you!
  66.  
  67. We actively encourage each of you to contribute any information you believe
  68. is relevant either through this discussion or through mail to DEJORDY.  
  69.  
  70. The Program Committee also wishes to fill open slots on the committee 
  71. with people who have some degree of name-recognition in each of the 
  72. industries.  Input from people within the industry will be critical to 
  73. producing not only a sound program, but one we can market as well.
