- ** IF you are in the Banking, Finance, or Insurance Industries, **
- ** or in the NorthEast Region, please take the time to read **
- ** this note. We value your opinions and encourage your response! **

-
- The NorthEast Regional Conference Committee has started work on a
- Regional Conference with a ``twist''. We want to produce a conference
- focused specifically on the Banking, Finance, and Insurance industries
- and their relevant applications. This determination was largely geographical,
- drawing from the large presence of these industries in Boston, New York,
- and Hartford. Current planning is targeting the conference for Fall of 1993
- in the Hartford, CT area.
-
- Our goal is effectively to hold TWO CONCURRENT, CO-LOCATED CONFERENCES
- with enough distinct identity to be attractive to two audiences.
-
- 1. System Managers, Analysts, Programmers, DP Staff
-
- 2. Technical Managers/Directors who sign the purchase orders for the
- systems, software, and services required to meet their business objectives.
-
- These 2 audiences represent the "Technical" stream and the "Managerial" stream.
-
- The Program Committee is looking for input regarding what specific program
- topics would be appropriate for the "Technical" stream or the "Managerial"
- stream. Our initial meetings identified five topic areas below that may
- help define the focus. We do not want to limit your responses to these areas!
-
- Transaction Processing
- Database Management Systems
- EDI (Electronic Data Interchange)
- Office Automation
- Imaging
-
- These are the first-round topic areas. Help us to focus on YOUR needs and
- address issues YOU are interested in. What is MISSING? What should
- we expand on? Specifics are fine - we want to know what YOU need to
- do your job in these industries successfully! It may be useful if
- you describe your CURRENT systems and applications to help us get a feel
- for commonality between companies, as well as targeting specifics.
- The more we know about your needs the better program we can prepare for you!
-
- We actively encourage each of you to contribute any information you believe
- is relevant either through this discussion or through mail to DEJORDY.
-
- The Program Committee also wishes to fill open slots on the committee
- with people who have some degree of name-recognition in each of the
- industries. Input from people within the industry will be critical to
- producing not only a sound program, but one we can market as well.
-
- Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions.
