- I purchased the MediaVision MM Upgrade Kit. It does come with an NEC 83J. I
- called NEC tech support and asked them the differences between an 83J, 83M
- and 84. NEC tech support told me an 83J and 83M are IDENTICAL except for
- the model number, 83J is used for OEM drives. The 84 adds an external dust
- door to help prevent dust from entering the drive. Other than the dust door
- all three drives have IDENTICAL capabilities and performance. Note, this
- data is from NEC tech support (the manufacturer).
-
- If it matters, I'm extremely pleased with my purchase.
