-
- Dont lose heart Allen, MHEG is progressing. Early versions have been
- successfully tested here in Europe as part of the Esprit Comis project.
- The demo included text, graphics, images and 30 minutes of MPEG video
- clips all presented in a complex interactive game.
-
- MHEG is addressing the needs of realtime interactive multimedia and
- hypermedia applications operating over a range of equipments, and using
- wide area telecom and broadcast networks as well as storage devices. It
- also takes into account the needs of minimal resource terminals. When
- more applications of this sophistication are deployed, then I am sure we
- will see more of MHEG.
-
- Although MHEG will also be a CCITT Recommendation, most of the work is
- being done in ISO/IEC JTC1/SC29/WG12 (aka MHEG) at present. If anyone
- wishes to participate in this work, they should contact their national
- standards body. (Individuals do not participate directly in the work of
- the ISO, they are accredited by their countries, who may impose
- conditions.)
