- Case Western Reserve University initiated the Cleveland Freenet
- project a number of years ago, and this Freenet concept has grown
- quite a bit over the years, including the formation of the NPTN
- (National Public Telecomputing Network or something like that)
- modeled after PBS or NPR. You can become a registered user by
- calling with your modem to 216-368-3888, or Telnet to
- cwns5.ins.cwru.edu. Tour the system as a guest, then register
- to obtain Internet e-mail privileges. A number of other Freenets
- have sprung up, mostly in the mid-west area. While in Cleveland
- Freenet, you can find out about what other Freenet systems are
- around by going to the Teleport (one of the menu choices that you
- will see). Good luck.
