  27. I ran into this probablem just last week.   Verify that your password file
  28. does not have any errors.

  30. One of the system admins here updated that passowrd file and made an error
  31. on a user entry, causing the fields to be off by one.  Correcting the
  32. passowrd file and restarting sendmail fixed the problem.
