- Aside from the PMDF solution proposed by Jeff Mandel, there is a simpler
- one. I am guessing that you already have DECUS UUCP because your VAX is the
- UUCP connection. If so, there is a file called MAIL_REWRITE.RULES that can
- be used to transform internet addresses into DECnet addresses and effect
- VMS Mail delivery. REGISTER YOUR SITE AS A DOMAIN(!). Then add a rule
-
- *@*.yourdomain.com \002::\001
-
- and any mail addressed to user@node.yourdomain.com will be routed to the
- VMS Mail address NODE::USER. YOu need to do the reverse for outgoing mail
- to convert DECnet address back into a domain address. If you insist on
- using bangpath or ".uucp" addressing you can still do it. Also, if you want
- to get really fancy, you can set up your VAX as a "domain gateway" and put
- separate rules into the file for each user in your company. This will hide
- your DECnet node names and let you use addresses like user@yourdomain.com.
- I personally dislike exposing your machine names in your mail addresses.
