- Either I don't quite understand the purpose of attribution, or there is a
- flaw with the feature (I am unsure if it is due to design or implementation).
-
- Attribution is keyed from the elmrc file, and causes the
- "originator's" full name to appear at the top of any email that is
- either forwarded or replied to.
-
- It makes perfect sense to put it at the top of a reply, as that is who
- the email is being "sent" back to. However, in a forward, a reader
- (especially those who don't use elm) wonder why I put the
- "senders" name at the top.
-
- I suggest the feature would have greater utility if the addressee's name
- were to appear at the top with a " -" or "," appended to simplify
- addressing the email..., and change the name of the feature to
- "preaddress" or something.
-
- The other option is to put out the originators name in a format string like:
- (The following letter is attributed to %s:)
-
- to help clarify what the intent of the line is.
-
- Flames invited - I am a novice and am probably doing something really
- stupid. Tell me so I can learn...
