- On that line, I'm happy to say that perl is the first language that
- has made Unix programming as much fun for me as QuickBASIC is on the
- PC. And as productive, too. Take that, C! :-)

- Seriously, though, it makes perfect sense that perl appeals to people
- who like BASIC. Both languages share an attribute most other
- languages don't - perl and BASIC are human oriented, other languages
- are computer oriented. Other languages give you efficiency, perl and
- BASIC give you ease of programming and *fun*.
