  19. On that line, I'm happy to say that perl is the first language that
  20. has made Unix programming as much fun for me as QuickBASIC is on the
  21. PC.  And as productive, too.  Take that, C!  :-)

  23. Seriously, though, it makes perfect sense that perl appeals to people
  24. who like BASIC.  Both languages share an attribute most other
  25. languages don't - perl and BASIC are human oriented, other languages
  26. are computer oriented.  Other languages give you efficiency, perl and
  27. BASIC give you ease of programming and *fun*.
