- We are currently running with the Fortran that came with the Ultrix 4.2
- release and we have had troubles with inconsistencies, for example code that
- runs on our Suns, miscellaneous workstations at other sites, supercomputer
- machines, etc... don't compile or have slightly different functionality on
- the Ultrix f77(and occasionally vice-versa).

- Are you on a VAX or MIPS? It matters, because DEC does not support
- f77 on the VAX; they only support VAX/Fortran. Of course, dbx doesn't
- work very well with VAX/Fortran, so we use f77 for debugging and hope
- for the best. The only bug I've found uniquely attributable to the
- f77 compiler is mixing character arguments with external subroutines
- on a call to a subroutine.$$
