- |I think it is an attitude problem for them. "I'm entitled to a
- |job, no matter how bad I do it, nor how much I overcharge." They should
- |try running the company for a while and find out what the world is really
- like.
-
- I think the above shows who is out of touch with what. The world is
- really like what most people experience...working for a boss.
-
- Our economy depends on both workers and execs. I think the economy would
- gain more if the execs could see through the workers eyes than vice versa.
- Try not to forget who makes the decisions and has the (concentrated)
- power. Unions are an attempt to level what is by definition an unlevel
- playing field.
-
- |
- |In another point, several union leaders have come out against the free
- trade
- |agreement. I have seen what is going on along our borders, the jobs they
- |think we will lose to folks to the south, are already lost, right here in
- |the states. For those of you who live along the southern border, look at
- |your service industry, landscapers, housekeepers, custodians, etc. are
- |predominately hispanic, most legal, some not. The only way to solve the
- |jobs problem is to make the border areas (both US-Canada and US-Mexico)
- as
- |prosperous as we (US) are. Only then will the "cheap labor" problem
- stop.
- |So get off it unions, use some vision.
-
- Its the border areas between rich and poor _within_ the US that needs to
- attended to first...and its the Bush who lacks "the vision thing"...but
- here there is no lack of vision on either side of this issue. Unions
- rightly see this as an attempt by those at the top to increase their slice
- of the pie by cutting the workers slice thinner. And Bush sees it the
- same way. There is a lack of _candor_, of course, on the Bush side.
-
- The last 12 years of Reagan/Bush are either a successful attempt to
- increase the gap between the rich and the working class, or an
- unsuccessful attempt to do something else. Either way, its time for a
- change.
