- We've been arguing on this for about 8 months now, and as far as i can tell
- we're not actually getting anywhere. New readers must be thoroughly
- pig-sick of the argument, whatever justifications there are for it.
-
- In the spirit of free speech perhaps we ought to just leave the argument
- for a while, and make some ~positive~ moves over the subject.
-
- As far as i can see we're going to end up with 2 distinct FAQs + a resource
- listing being posted, which in itself isn't such a bad thing. FAQ 'elderly'
- isn't too confusing, and won't muddy the waters too much, provided FAQ 'the
- next generation' fills the gaping holes. (mixed metaphors..love em)
-
- If you want to make a positive suggestion as the content of the newer FAQ,
- either email Juhana or post here, if you want to add to FAQ 'elderly' email its
- moderator (as he doesn't read this group :-( ). If you want to notify the
- world of a new ftp site email Nick.
-
- If you want to abuse Jef, email him (and probably me too as i like a good
- laugh :-) :- ) ), or indeed feel free to email anyone, as the
- last thing we want is a "you said this, no i didn't, well you can't
- even speak the language so fuck off" argument broadcast to all the newbies.
- Its negative and doesn't get anywhere, experience tells us that no one ever
- apologises on USENET :-)
-
- I suggest we form a self-help group (trauma treatment anyone?) to help
- Juhana put together the new FAQ, formed of people happy to take the flak,
- and who are interested in doing their bit. Dave DeBry (sp?) has mooted the
- idea of a mailing list for this, which should help, though in the immediate
- future i suggest we just stick to each having long lists of addresses in
- to: fields!
