  21. well, there reaches a limit in the number of editors that you can 
  22. expect somebody to use.  Let's see, what systems have I been on in
  23. the last year and what editors have I been REQUIRED to use as part
  24. of my job (sys-admin and user)...

  37. Not to fan the flames of the vi_[stinks|is-great] folks or the
  38. alt.religion.emacs folks, but there are only two editors that I've
  39. found that are everywhere and can be used to teach folks one editor
  40. for all operating systems.

  45. The issue is support.  I can't pick emacs because it's not supplied
  46. by the vendor, with the same version, on every OS. If you limit the
  47. issue to unix'y OS's, I can't pick anything other than vi since that's
  48. supplied by the vendor everywhere and is the same (love it or not)
  49. everywhere.

  51. When the 'one-true-editor' appears and shows up on all systems from
  52. the vendor, I'll reconsider.
