- Vi is kind of like a RISC processor: all the simple operations are very
- fast and very easy to get to. All the complicated operations aren't there.
-
- Emacs is kind of like a CISC processor: All operations, simple and complex
- are in there, but they are ALL slow(er) and harder to get to.
-
-
- For my kind of editing, I stick to the simple operations that vi offers.
- It is very rare that I need to use an advanced editing function that vi
- doesn't offer with a few extra keystrokes.
-
- Until someone comes up with something better than full screen editing, vi
- is a good tradeoff between a slow, advanced editor, and a quick, simple
- editor.
