  13. Vi is kind of like a RISC processor:  all the simple operations are very
  14.   fast and very easy to get to.  All the complicated operations aren't there.

  16. Emacs is kind of like a CISC processor:  All operations, simple and complex
  17.   are in there, but they are ALL slow(er) and harder to get to.

  20. For my kind of editing, I stick to the simple operations that vi offers. 
  21. It is very rare that I need to use an advanced editing function that vi
  22. doesn't offer with a few extra keystrokes.

  24. Until someone comes up with something better than full screen editing, vi
  25. is a good tradeoff between a slow, advanced editor, and a quick, simple 
  26. editor.
