  13.     I knew it, I physically cringed when I first saw the subject line
  14. because I knew that, although the original post was a plain and simple
  15. "Isn't vi neat" message, this was just going to degenerate into a slanging
  16. match.
  17.     O.K. some of us like vi,emacs etc and others (You know, the strange
  18. ones ;-) like the new generation complete with mouse drivers, menus, the
  19. works. I for one don't know much about these because I've found an editor
  20. that I like, I fail to see that one editor can actually go *quicker* than
  21. another when all editors I've seen run quick enough to keep up with my 2,3
  22. or 4 finger typing. Admittedly I mostly use editors to program with and in
  23. this case tend not to spend a great deal of time hauling large chunks of
  24. text about and formatting pages to look nice (hey thats what beautifiers
  25. are for) so many functions go unused.
  26.     Just for the record I use jove as I found I like emacs-type editing
  27. (I've got long fingers and I play the guitar so ctrl-keys aren't a problem
  28. :-) and gnu emacs was just too big to get to grips with. I know vi enough
  29. to use fairly well in case of system crashes and the need to use the only
  30. editor available.
  31.     This does not mean I frown on use of another editor by someone else,
  32. variety allows each of us to choose and (according to Monty Python) we are
  33. *all* different. Go with what suits you and drop the silly slanging match.
