- Is it possible, through Unix, to extract a sample from
- a music CD-ROM?
-
- We have a program that plays CD's on our Unix CD-ROM
- drive. It uses SCSI ioctl calls to send commands.
- My guess is that the best bet would be to send some
- sort of ioctl to the drive asking it to return a certain
- block or sector on the CD-ROM. Possible?
-
- Then, what kind of format is the data in? How hard would
- it then be to convert it into AIFF/uLAW or some other
- well know format?
-
- This would be very useful information for me, and I
- would think, a wide number of others. Any hints are
- appreciated.
