  20. This is an urban legend. The 'reason' that eel-skin wallets wipe mag
  21. stripe cards is that they very often have magnetic catches on them.  I
  22. was told that this is due to their low inherent strength -- i.e. a
  23. conventional press-stud catch tends to rip the leather.
