- Hello net,
-
- For remote printing we have following configuration installed:
-
- ---
- +-----+ | +-------+
- | VAX +------+ | +----
- +-----+ | +------+ | +------
- +----+router+------ WAN ------+Trouter+-------
- +-----+ | +------+ | + +-------+
- | CPT +------+ | +------+Printer|
- +-----+ | +-------+ +-------+
- |
- ---
- The CPT, router and Trouter are all cisco's (8.2/8.3). The VAX has a LAT queue
- defined. The CPT translates LAT to telnet and sends the data directly to a
- port on the Trouter using a definition like:
-
- translate lat TLPRFR1 tcp 130.142.250.2 port 6009 Stream quiet max-users 1
-
- This all works but with a some problems that makes that the queue is
- regularly 'stalled' with the message 'data set hangup'. We must stop and
- start the queue and clear the line on the Trouter where the printer is
- connected to. Result is that printfiles restart from the beginning (annoying
- if you send a bill twice though we can use the money :-) ).
-
- Does anyone have a similar setup? Any comments? Alternative sulutions?
-
- The remote site is an sales office. Maybe some PC's but no unix/vms
- systems around.
-
- Please respond to me. I'll summarize interesting info to the net.
-
- Thanks,
