- Consider this a flame if you must, but please do not be quite so
- blatently commercial in this news group. Those of us who pay to move
- news and all of us who read the stuff do not need to subsidize your
- advertising. It's not especially good that others advertise their own
- stuff in this supposedly non-commercial venue, but you are not only
- advertising but doing contentless bad-mouthing of your competition.
-
- I thought it might be good to have a few low keyed notes, fairly
- infrequent notes from you guys selling these new, cheap, fast modems.
- I'm beginning to thing that the slippery slope to simple "Computer Shopper"
- emptiness is too steep.
-
- The signal-to-noise ratio in this news group is rather bad, what
- with the many people who cannot read their own manuals or who cannot be
- bothered to read the newsgroup for a few weeks before asking for
- recommendations.
-
- I do not mind your previous note that pointed out that the used modem
- was not well priced. I would not have objected to this note if you had
- included the concrete reasons that you prefer the Supra to the Scout+.
- I don't care if you like the Supra only because you make more money
- selling it than the Scout+. Or you don't like the way the people at
- Digicom spell their names. Or your tests found the Supra faster, more
- reliable, prettier or smells better.
-
- Please justify your advertising at our expense (in time and money) with
- some information. I have a couple of reservations about the Scout+,
- although I recommend the Digicom 9624LE+ to people who ask me about a
- non-FAX modem (lack of class 2 support). What are your reservations
- about the Scout+? How fast or slow is the Supra compared to the
- Scout+? Or any other modems you have tested? How good is Supra's
- class 2 support? Is it easy to get Sam Leffler's code working with
- it? Can you say anything bad about the Supra? What about the Supra is
- particularly good according to your tests? Can you offer additional
- confirmation or denial of it's alledged heat problems?
