  42. I lock the DTE at 38400 and let the modem "downshift" to the 
  43. caller -- so all communications between the computer and
  44. modem are at 38400 baud

  46. when callers connect  -  the don't need to do a thing as they
  47. are greeted with a "login:" prompt immediately
