  23. Out of casual interest in learning about the REAL RS232 Standard I
  24. called EIA to order the standard document and was shocked to learn
  25. that the standards documents were like $60 a piece.  
  26. At the time I was interested in the correct way to hook RS242 to RS442
  27. and found that was another $60 document.  I noticed you quoted from
  28. the standard in this note, and was wondering if any of the standards
  29. documents were inexpensively available (like anon. ftp!), and if not
  30. what is the rationale?  I can understand recovering costs, but this 
  31. has the negative side affect of limiting the availability of first
  32. hand knowledge of the standard.
