- I'm assuming that the PPI guys did it the way we do it at Hayes,
- which is that when the modem is powered-up or reset, it assumes the
- DTE speed is whatever speed was used to issue the last "AT&W"
- command to write to non-volatile memory. The &W command stores the
- speed and parity along with the parameter settings. It sounds like
- the last &W command was issued at 19200 on the modems you got; you
- can make them answer with a 38400 DTE speed by issuing an &W command
- to them at 38400.

- factory procedures and be sure they're setting the modems to 38400
- before they get shrink-wrapped.
