- Since GIF and ZIP files are already compressed, your V.42bis
- compression cannot make them smaller, and may actually make them
- larger. Thus the best throughput that you can expect is 9600 baud
- with these files, even though your computer - modem connection is at
- 38.4. Given this, I think that 900+ CPS is about as good as you can
- expect. You might get slightly faster CPS by turning modem
- compression off when moving precompressed files around.
