- Yep. I have one MR9000 and after a couple of years, it failed to
- power on after a scheduled shutdown. This was a Sunday and I had to
- have the network up on monday, so I just grabbed a couple off the
- shelf power supplies and connected them up appropriately (I seem
- to recall it needing +5,-5 and +9). Of course, this means the PS
- is outside the MR9000, but I don't mind. It's to be replaced with
- a THN-MIM in a few days anyway.

- You could subscribe to Cabletron's maintenance program. With that, they will
- Federal Express you a new one overnight and you send them the dead one at your
- convienence. I don't know for sure, but I'd expect that to cost about $200/yr
- each. $200x30 = $6000. I think you'd be much better off getting a spare or two
- and at $6000/yr, you could buy lots-o-spares. With a spare, in won't matter
- if it takes 2 or 3 weeks to get a dead one fixed (unless another one dies
- in the meantime).
-
- You might also consider getting the spares from someone other than Cabletron
- since we now know what the MR9000's are like.
-
- Good luck.
