  13. Some time ago, I mentioned in a release, a product called the PM7321 PLPP 
  14. Physical Layer Protocol Processor and DS-3 Transceiver chip.
  15.  
  16. This device contains a full DS-3 Framer, ATM, and SMDS cell processors 
  17. and 2-cell FIFOs.  The system side interface will be identical with the
  18. upcoming PM5345 SUNI chip, which is being designed for very low cost 
  19. 155 Mbit/s ATM LAN interfaces.  These chips will implement the ATM UNI 
  20. specified by the ATM forum for DS-3 and SONET STS-3c applications, 
  21. respectively.

  23. The PLPP chip is ideal for implementing both WAN and LAN interfaces to
  24. ATM switches, hubs, and routers.

  26. The part has been qualified for production, and we will be releasing
  27. the device and full datasheets for general sampling on Sept. 22nd.
