- It does not seem that informix offers any support. I have
- an experience where their i4GL product would hang up my machine when we
- use passwords and we try to delete a password.
- This is under DOS version 3.1. I found the bug the second day
- after acquiring the damn package. The first thing the supposed engineer told
- me was that the packeage has not been registered for support, this was
- after telling him that the package was one day old, One day old
- for christ sake!
- Then he said the bug has been fixed. I said I was not dreaming this up, my
- machine hangs!!!! He said he would test it out. One week later, he called me to
- confirm that his machine at home hangs, (at home mind you), he would have
- to test it again in the office. Three days later: Yes the machine at the office
- also hangs. He gave me a bug report number or something like that. He would
- have to have another engineer verify this bug.
- All this happened in May, I am still awaiting a letter or a phone call
- from Informix. Meanwhile, my client yanks a few dollars out of my quote --
- thank God they did not pull the project-- The strength of my
- proposal was the password protection which I can not now deliver.
- What about BLOBS? Only in our online engine, said the support engineer, but
- the sales engineer said, Yeah, we support them.
-
- Meanwhile, the campaign has started:
- Please do not buy infromix products, their tech support stinks.
- The support policy will kill your business!!
-
- BTW: The support engineer said I could return the product if I did not
- like what I was getting. Talk about support!?
