- Starting in 1994, the Information and Computer Sciences Graduate
- Program at HIROSHIMA UNIVERSITY will begin TEACHING
- CLASSES in ENGLISH-only.

- [Programs of Study] The Graduate School of Information Engineering
- at Hiroshima University offers programs leading to a Masters or a
- Doctorate. Dissertations are necessary both for Master's and Doctoral
- degrees to complete the applicants' research requirements.

- [Staff Organization] Teaching staff consists of the professors of the
- Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Integrated Arts and Sciences,
- who specialize in information and computer sciences. Their technical and
- research interests span a broad spectrum of areas such as information
- science fundamentals, information statistics, information processing,
- information machinery, information systems and networking, distributed
- systems, and software engineering. Intensive courses will be given by
- visiting professors.

- [Financial Aid] Financial aid possibilities for graduate students include
- teaching assistantship, Government Scholarships given by the Ministry of
- Education of Japan ('Monbusho'), and some other public funds.
- Applicants are encouraged to acquire 'Monbusho' scholarships in
- advance of their admission to the graduate programs.

- [Location] Hiroshima University is located 37km east of Hiroshima
- City, where you will appreciate 'sake', fresh fish, and peace. Student
- domitories (public/private) are accommodated mostly within walking
- distance of the univerisity campus. The weather is mild throughout the
- year with moderate variation between summer and winter.

- [Application] Student will be selected mostly on the basis of past
- achievements in research and study. Applications for 'Monbusho'
- scholarship are accepted at the Japanese Consulate general in your area. A
- booklet describing details of lectures, research topics, and seminar
- progams is available on request.
