  20. Perhaps if the person is primarily manic, then the stimulants would
  21. work in opposition to the effect of the lithium.  I can not imagine
  22. what would be the reason if the person is primarily depressive.  Maybe
  23. in this second case, the individuals physiological condition may
  24. complicate the effect of the lithium in conjuction with caffeine.
  25. Do you mean caffeine whan you say stimulants?  Maybe he is not supposed
  26. to ingest caffeine and was not prescribed a stimulant.
