  18. I did something boneheaded to my mail account yesterday, and missed Ned's
  19. first response to my remark about the multipart nondelivery notices.  From
  20. the ensuing discussion I gather it was somewhat heated.  I think that most
  21. of us who post suggestions here consider the following points to be implicit
  22. in what we write, but perhaps I should have been explicit:

  24.     1.  It's well known that an apparently trivial modification may
  25.         in fact be very difficult to implement (and sometimes vice
  26.         versa).  Clearly, an option to control the notice format falls
  27.         into this class, and having found that out I wouldn't dream
  28.         of pressing the issue any further.

  30.     2.  I don't know anyone familiar with Innosoft who considers them
  31.         anything less than a model for all other software concerns.
  32.         By pointing out a fly in the ointment--a microbe, really--I
  33.         didn't mean to express a lack of enthusiasm for the MIME
  34.         implementation, with which Innosoft is doing almost singlehandedly
  35.         what the entire X.400 community has been struggling to pull
  36.         off for eight years.

  38. So please add these as footnotes to my original comment, which still seems
  39. perfectly reasonable to me.  Now, can someone send me a copy of that
  40. message?  I hate to miss an instance of Ned's writing, even if it means
  41. getting a whole can of whup-ass poured on me.
