- OCLC #26214108 will not overlay because you have the
- record for "Village life in northern India" (OCLC# 616282)
- in your BIB file. The 019 field in "Village" is 262141,
- the same first six characters as your overlay problem.
- Because the 019 filed has only six characters instead of the
- usual eight characters; it is not processed correctly by the
- Standard number index as 00262141 but as 262141. Search
- "fi no 262141" and you will see the short 019 sitting next
- to your non-overlaying 26214108.
- If you edit the 019 field out of the "Village" record
- or add the leading zeroes to the number in the 019 field,
- 26214108 will successfully overlay.
- Short 019 numbers even prevent overlay across processing
- units. This was reprted to NOTIS in Feb. 1992 and is PPQ5528.
