  29. We are also planning to move from HPO5 to ESA 1.1; a 3081 KX2 and 3090-
  30. 150 to a 9121.

  32. Our first task is to upgrade CP and CMS PUT level to 9004, which we
  33. had completed. This step is to prepare for the usage of ESCON in ESA.
  34.  
  35. The next tasks is to upgrade all program products that can be used
  36. both in HPO5 and ESA 1.1.  The order is:
  37.     1.   Apply relevant fixes;
  38.     2.   Upgrade release changes;
  39.     3.   Upgrade version changes.
  40.  
  41. For this, the IBM manual G24/6C12 "Licensed Products Migration Matrix
  42. for VM/ESA" will be a great help.
  43.  
  44. The other tasks are mainly paperwork, drafting procedures and backoff
  45. plans, educating the operators and users, etc. until the machine comes
  46. in.

  48. Once the 9121 is in, LPAR will be set up for HPO5.  ESA test partition
  49. will also be set up and migration will be from HPO partition to ESA
  50. partition.

  52. For a comprehensive plan for migration, you should get hold of a copy
  53. of GG24-3770-00 "VM/ESA 1.1 Migration Management".
