  12.  We have a pool of v.22 bis modems connected to our 7171.  Some of our
  13.  users are using newer modems with v.42 features.  Our problem is that
  14.  once the modems have connected the newer modem tries to do some type
  15.  of handshaking for the v.42 functions.  Because the older modems are
  16.  directly connected to the 7171 they pass on these handshaking bits to
  17.  the 7171.  The 7171 does not like this and locks up this port.  Is
  18.  there a control character(s) that the remote user can type in to
  19.  free the port or are they SOL at this point.  Thanks.
